June 30, 2009
July 9, 2009
July 15, 2009

.

There can be no meets without volunteers. Volunteering gives you a chance to get to know other parents and swimmers. You also are helping to make the meets run smoother and faster.

1. Parents must sign-up to work before swimmers can participate.

  • Parents must work two meets during regular season, this includes the prelim meet.
  • If a swimmer is selected for the relay meet, their parents may be required to work the meet.
  • If a swimmer qualifies for Finals, their parents will be required to work the meet.
  • 2. Two $50 deposit checks will be required to ensure obligations are met.

  • Checks will be returned when the obligations have been met.
  • The following is required to meet volunteer obligations:
    1. Work the meets you signed up. If you’re not able to work the time you agreed, you are responsible to find a replacement. (Responsible children or friends, 13 yr. old and over may work in your place) You must contact the Volunteer Coordinator with changes.
    2. Setup volunteers must check-in 30 minutes before warm-ups.
    3. Take Down volunteers must stay after the meet until equipment is put away & area is clean.
    4. Announcer, Starter Assistant, Bullpen, Lane Directors, Timers, Back-up Timer, Runners, Time Sheet Judge, Computer Entry, Time Entry Checker, Awards, and Substitute volunteers must sign in at least 10 minutes before meet starts and work until the meet is over. (Parents may each work half the meet, to make up one work obligation)
    5. Time Sheet Judge, Computer Entry, Time Entry Checker, Awards and Substitute volunteers may have to remain after meet to complete results.
    6. If obligations are not met the deposit will not be returned.
  • 3. If a family has already worked two meets, and fills in for a no show, they will receive the no shows forfeited $50 deposit.

  • Swimmers Meet Attendance when a swimmer doesn’t show, there is an empty lane where another swimmer could have had an opportunity to swim. Meet sign-up is required 1 week before the first meet.
  • If a swimmer needs to be added or dropped from a meet, the parent must complete and "Add/Drop Form" and deliver it to the Computer Coordinator no later than 3 days before the meet.
  • If Computer Coordinator is not notified as stated above the swimmer will not participate in their next scheduled meet.
  • If there is a situation out of the control of the parents & swimmer, like a sudden sickness or injury the Team Reps. can reinstate the swimmer for the next meet.
  •

    Parents Responsibilities

  • Do not interfere with officials and coaches during meets. This includes giving officials ample room to walk the side of the pool.
  • Get swimmers to practices and meets on time.
  • Help young swimmers get to the bullpen before their races. It is not the responsibility of the bullpen volunteers to locate swimmers that have not gone to the bullpen.
  • Leave the pool area clean.
  • Swimmers’ Duties

  • Stay in the meet area.
  • Know what events you are swimming. (We recommend writing event number, event, heat and lane in permanent marker on hand or forearm.)
  • Know what event the bullpen is calling.
  • Go to the bullpen when your event is posted. It is not the job of the bullpen to find you.
  • Get to the lane on time.
  • Know your relay team mates, the order that you will be swimming and at what end you will start. (In 10 & under relays there should be 2 swimmers at each end. In 11 & older all swimmers should be at the start end of the pool.
  • If you are on a relay, and need to leave before your race, please tell your coach as soon as possible so that he/she may find a replacement.
  • Listen to your coaches.
  • Leave the pool in a clean condition.
  • Have fun & swim fast!
  • Things To Bring To The Meet

  • Lawn chairs, many pools do not have enough seating.
  • Water for the hot, thirsty swimmer.
  • Extra dry towels and clothing for cold swimmers during the cool early summer nights.
  • And don’t forget swim suits, caps and goggles.
